Detox Diet Update
I quit the vegan, no nuts detox diet I mentioned in my last post, after just three days. It was silly hard to do on the SCD. Without rice, potatoes, oats, or other things to fill my belly, I was left with veggies and fruit–and that’s it. I’m way too skinny for all that. So I quit, and I don’t feel the least bit of guilt. I proudly ate eggs for breakfast. Now, I think I’ll go eat some cheese, just because I can.
Just thought you might want to know.
PS–This doesn’t mean I can’t detox, fast, or further clean my diet. There are benefits from protein and calorie restriction, and fasting.

Hi Matt,
Thought I’d post my question for all to see, as I’m a little confused… Aren’t “rice, potatoes, oats, or other things to fill my belly” illegal on SCD? Perhaps I missed something from another entry, but grains and starches are big no-no’s on that diet. Yes??
Yes, they are absolutely illegal on the SCD. So without the ability to eat them, the detox diet just didn’t leave me enough food. So I quit the detox diet, in the interest of sticking with the SCD.
The original idea was to do an SCD version of that diet, but it was too hard, and something had to go. So I kept the SCD, and threw out the detox diet. Does that make sense? Sticking to both diets at once was too much.

I did not break the SCD to do the detox diet.

Aah. I see! I thought it meant that you were normally eating those things, and now you couldn’t on the detox. Thanks for clarifying!
